I arrived back from New Orleans last Thursday, but it feels like a lifetime ago. I touched down at 12am and then hit the ground running. While I was so fortunate to get some time away to meet so many wonderful people and go on the set of Home Town and visit the sites for Holly Baker’s HGTV pilot, my family was waiting for me back home.
My hubby tried to stay awake so he could greet me when I got home, but was fast asleep on the couch worn out from the week of juggling so many roles. I am so grateful for this man. The twins struggled to fall asleep that night because they couldn’t wait to have mommy back with them. They are my heart.
It’s nice to be home! Being away gave me incredible perspective and drive. I’ve never gone away from them for that long before. I realized how much my family meant to me (more than I could even imagine) and what a wonderful life we are building together! I fell in love with my husband even more because of all the sacrifices he made so I could travel for 5 days. He supports my dreams and walks alongside me as I pursue becoming a blogger, a shop owner, a mother of three, a designer, a remodeler, etc.
So how do I successfully pull off this balancing act? I’m still figuring that out. I can plan all I want, but I know myself, I just have to throw myself into it and make it all work! I know I can, it’s just getting it all up and going takes some time, patience, prayer, planning, and support. The main balancing act comes down to how to successfully balance my dreams and aspirations and my family life. My family is everything.
A wise woman told me recently that I needed to decide what I wanted out of life, what I wanted for my family, before I decided what I wanted for my career. She continued on to say that if I didn’t make decisions ahead of time, my career would take it all. I choose my family over it all. I’ll work towards my career and aspirations complimenting, not competing with my family.
On that note, Matt and I are taking the kids on our first family vacation, just the four of us to the beach. Stay tuned!
