Yesterday I was up at the new store location for Farmhouse Design District. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning! When I walked in there were piles of wood scattered about, exposed walls, architectural salvage, etc. I was in my element!
I met up with co-owner, Jenny Kopenhaver. I wish all of you could meet Jenny! She is seriously one of my favorite people on the planet! She is so encouraging, positive, bubbly, creative, and hard working! Love her!
She and I talked for a bit about the store layout and what’s on the agenda concerning architects, contractors, electrical, etc. Who said women had to stay home in the kitchen wearing aprons?! We are multitasking women who know how to cook, raise families, demo, and decorate!
The second floor is coming along nicely! Painting has been a beast to tackle in 100+ degrees! The HVAC is being repaired, so all the painting is being done in the sweltering heat. Last weekend the floor was laid.
As you can imagine, renovating a railroad station isn’t cheap. So, the ladies got creative and used 1/2 inch plywood, 12 inches wide, cut into various lengths. They stained the wood with an Early American stain. The top coat is a fat polyurethane.
The upstairs is almost done, and then the fun of the first floor begins! My shop will be located downstairs! Can’t wait! More updates to come!
