It’s never too late to start another renovation, especially when you’re 36 1/2 weeks pregnant! ? After months of bouncing around to various projects, I’m finally starting the craft room renovation! Sometime in the 1980s, our 1890s house was turned into a B and B and then a boarding house. Several of the rooms got “makeovers” and kitchenettes were put in. Let me tell you how much I need them gone! Lol! Pink backsplash, a 70s light, old cabinetry, and maroon wallpaper do not go with my nursery design.
Today I met with a contractor from Arocon to finalize everything. We discussed moving electrical outlets, repairing/replacing the wood floors, removing wallpaper, dropping the plumbing into the floor, and of course ripping the cabinets and backsplash out. We also discussed replacing 6 windows in a few rooms. It turns out the glass is too heavy for the window frame to hold and it’s literally separating from the glass. Talk about unsafe, especially when you throw in the fact that your kids will literally try to climb the windows (and walls like Spider-Man) when Mommy and Daddy think they’re sleeping.
I’m pretty sure this is the same light above my grandmother’s sink. If anyone wants this, let me know!
It may seem nuts that I’m starting another renovation 6 weeks before my due date, but it seems crazier to try and tackle that room after our little guy arrives. I also have a sneaking suspicion he’ll make his grand appearance sooner than later, maybe because I can’t slow down or maybe because I just physically feel like I don’t have much longer. Regardless, there’s no time like the present!
This summer we tackled repairing the walls and ceilings, painting 4 rooms, 2 hallways, and 3 staircases, decorating one of the third floor bedrooms, and transforming a Hogwarts themed room (previous owner’s design choice, though Matt was content plugging away day after day in a mustard yellow and maroon room that he thought was brown…clearly he’s color blind) into Matt’s office/production studio. We also landscaped the front yard, had 14 Leeland Cyprus trees put in along the fence line and the cleaned up the overgrown shrubs and trees. All in all, we had a very productive summer. I can’t wait to see what Fall holds!
Here I am at 34 weeks:
